The arrangement
A short note
An architect's planting. A small Elephant Bush forms a green cloud beside the blue candelabra of a young Myrtillocactus, while a flat-leaved Paddle Plant blushes red at the front of the cube.
All three are tolerant, undemanding plants that share full sun and a love of dry roots. The cube unifies their contrasting silhouettes — bushy, columnar, and flat — into one composition.
Care
Full direct sun. Water every two weeks; reduce to monthly in winter.
Styling
Raw, untreated concrete reads as a piece of brutalist sculpture. Leave the top bare or dress with a single layer of grey gravel — anything more competes with the form.
