The Window Cabinet

A short note

A miniature cabinet of curiosities. A cluster of fingery peanut cactus stems leans toward the sun, beside the buried green toes of Fenestraria and the spotted purple eggs of Adromischus.

All three are small, slow growers that suit a shallow planting and a bright sill. Each prefers dry feet and gritty soil — and each rewards close inspection with its own tiny strangeness.

Bright direct light. Water sparingly; almost dry in winter.

A pale, square-cut wood box keeps the planting modest. Top with pale river sand so the windowed leaves and spotted skins read clearly against the ground.
