The arrangement
A short note
Two forest cacti given the woodland container they deserve. Long pendant stems of Rat Tail spill from one end while the segmented Christmas Cactus blooms from the other in midwinter pinks.
Both are jungle epiphytes, not desert plants — they prefer richer soil, more humidity and gentler light than their spined cousins. A hollowed log mimics the rotting branch they would naturally cling to.
Care
Bright indirect light. Keep evenly moist in growth; reduce watering when flowering.
Styling
A weathered, hollowed driftwood log on a low shelf lets both species trail freely. Line the cavity with sphagnum before adding a peaty, free-draining mix.
